Lomas Tramway Branch Library - Albuquerque, NM

The library is sited to provide views of the Sandia Mountains while screening out near views of traffic through the use of berms and pine trees. The exterior is clad in plum colored tile which changes hues as the sun sets, tying the building color to the colors of the mountains.

A central rotunda space, functioning as a circulation organizer and reference area, floods the interior with natural light. The community room, designed with a separate entrance, provides meeting space for neighborhood organizations even after the library is closed.

Reading areas are located near windows for views and natural light. Storefront windows enclose the children's area, defining it as a special place, yet allowing very young visitors to look out and see their caregivers
