The design team used an integrated design process to explore various ways to achieve the optimum building performance through the use of high performance, high transmittance glazing for natural daylighting and solar performance, insulation thickness in walls, and roof systems. The integrated design process also resulted in reducing the size of the loads placed on the mechanical equipment by approximately 50%. The reduced size of air handling units led to additional economic benefits from reduced structural sizing, to plenum dimensions, and duct sizes, etc.
