Albuquerque Aquarium - Albuquerque NM

The aquarium is located on a seven acre site in the Albuquerque Biological Park, near the Rio Grande. Challenges associated with the design of the aquarium included creating an innovative life support system that provides a truly natural environment for all of the inhabitants.  Other remarkable features include:

A 285,000 gallon Deep Ocean tank with a filtration system that recycles the entire tank every 45 minutes

A 40 foot long, 20,000 pound, 8 inch thick curved acrylic viewing window in the Deep Ocean exhibit.

A 35,000 gallon, 14 foot deep coral reef tank that allows visitors to lean into the realms of the tropical fish

A 22 foot acrylic domed tunnel that simulates walking underwater while being surrounded on all three sides by marine life

An 80 seat theater that utilizes a fully computerized system to control the lights, sound and door openings.
