The 60,000 square foot Geology Building Complex is composed of three separate buildings sited around a courtyard. The creation of an enclosed courtyard is a traditional New Mexico design element. The Geology Laboratory Building is on the west side of the courtyard and its three-story configuration was defined by laboratory requirements for fume hoods and other mechanical equipment needs. The administrative and office wing on the north side of the courtyard is two-stories high. The third building on the east side of the courtyard steps down to one-story height. The massing of the three buildings serves functional needs in an aesthetically pleasing arrangement. The one-story building houses the Geology Museum. Total square footage is 60,000. The building design features clay tile, pitched roofs and stucco walls with punched window openings. The.
